Privacy

What we collect
We collect the email address you sign up with, the entries and reflections you create in the product, the inquiries served to you, your subscription state, and the device tokens you choose to register for push. We do not collect contacts, location, or browsing history.
Where it lives
Your data is stored on infrastructure we operate. Object storage is provided by MinIO. The database is hosted by us on a single self-managed host. Transport is TLS end-to-end.
How long we keep it
Live data is kept while your account is active. Encrypted backups roll off on a standard cadence of no more than 90 days. We disclose backup retention because deletions take effect in live storage immediately but backups expire on this schedule.
Deletion
You can request deletion from Settings. There is a 14-day pause during which you can cancel. After the pause, your entries, reflections, dialogue transcripts, device registrations, and active subscriptions are removed; audit rows are anonymized. After deletion, the same email address cannot create a new account for 30 days.
Third-party processors
Noema routes AI calls through LiteLLM to model providers (currently OpenAI and Anthropic). Provider settings are pinned to "no training" and the shortest retention each provider offers. Safety screening of entries and AI replies uses a screening service from OpenAI; if it is unavailable, a fallback screening service from Anthropic (routed through LiteLLM) takes over. Screening calls carry only the text being screened, never your account identity. Subscription billing is handled by RevenueCat (mobile) and Stripe (web). Push notifications on mobile are dispatched through Expo. Transactional email is sent through our email provider. Object storage uses MinIO. We do not use third-party analytics on your content. When you ask for a Looking back report or ask your journal a question, the entries that answer — and only those — are sent to the model to write the reading.
Your rights
You can export your data from Settings at any time. You can delete your account from Settings at any time. We respond to data-subject requests in line with applicable law.
